#downbutnotout

I made muffins thinking the girls would love them....they complained and said they would rather have cereal

I gave it a good shot, the whole not fussing or nagging thing, and I knocked it out of the park for a good hour or so, and then it was almost back to normal, or even worse. I should be ashamed of myself. We had a very mixed weekend.  Some great moments and also some moments that included me running away from the house once I discovered that Avery had taken a hot pink marker and colored all over Olivia's white bed quilt. I couldn't decide who I was more upset with, Avery for being a destructive little graffiti artist or Olivia who knows better, witnessed it, and didn't tattle. Let's be honest, in a normal world, she runs to tell me when Avery uses too many squares of TP while using the rest room, but yet she didn't think to tell me that Avery had defaced her bedding? I lost my patience!

I let them do arts and crafts in the buff...just because, not just because....because Avery refused to put clothing on

I ran a few errands, traded my spleen for a new bra (seriously, when did those things becomes so dog-gone expensive?) and resisted stopping at Chipotle or Jimmy Johns on the way home.  When I got home the house was quiet, a concussed Brad (he fell off his bike) was on the couch watching Sons of Guns (or something like that) the girls were sleeping and when Avery woke up, I went up to get her and she greeted me with a huge smile, which melted my heart and decreased the frustration I still had running through my veins.

Sunday afternoon was glorious, the weather was beautiful, Avery and I played outside in the backyard for a while before Olivia woke up (Olivia is still napping better than Avery and she is almost 5 years old) and then Olivia joined us, along with the neighbors little ones.  The sunshine was good for my soul!!

Saturday Night Brad and I had a date night - we had planned to go out with another couple but their plans changed at the last minute so it was just the two of us. We dined at Mezzanine and it was fantastic. Brad grew up playing soccer with the owner and chef and we have been dying to try it, we were not disappointed it was a remarkable meal.  Dinner was quick (service was excellent as well) and so we managed to catch a 7:50pm movie - 21 Jump Street - which was HILARIOUS. I laughed out loud several times, as did everyone around me, I haven't laughed that hard in a movie theater in I don't know how long.

This is where I found Avery this morning - under their table - hiding because she wanted to wear her ballet shoes, and didn't want to go to school...

On a positive note, my dear gal pal Theresa is a wonderful writer, she always has been and I am thrilled that she is now gracing the blog world with her skills.  She wrote a post that spoke straight to my heart on Thursday, but I just read it this morning, which was perfect timing considering the weekend and morning I had. If you are a Mom, and at times feel overwhelmed, she does a great job of capturing some perspective in this post about The Little Moments. Check her out!
