Before & After: Not Just Oscar's Home

When we re-did the Home Office I was in search for a presentable way to store Riley's Food.  I didn't like the dirty Tupperware bin thingy I was using before:

Original BEFORE:

So I searched the World Wide Web looking for a suitable storage solution for Riley's food that wouldn't 1) Break the Bank or 2) Make my eyes bleed.  I found this one:

But it was about $70. I thought that was a little outrageous, so I kept looking, but nothing really jumped out at me that was in a reasonable price range, so I set out to create my own Dog Food Container.

BEFORE:

I started with a plain stainless trash can that I bought online from a Feed & Grain store for $21.  Keep in mind the solution had to hold an entire 20+lbs of Dog Food, so it wasn't a small container.

And this is what it looks like today, after a little spray paint and some Silhouette love. Total Price = $25, and frankly I am happier with a blue trash can than I would have been with the $70 white option above.

AFTER:

I wanted to come up with a snazzy slogan or tag line to put on the can, but I just didn't have it in me, so there you have it, simple and plain, Dog Food.  The good news is, that can easily be changed when my creative brain decides to deliver a clever label, and you bet your bottom dollar I will be changing the font up a bit too, this is far too boring for the likes of me, but I am still thrilled with how it came out. If you have any ideas, feel free to pass them along!

Yay! So proud of your first vinyl. I can't wait to see what else you come up with! You've inspired me to work on some home projects and I actually just took my first vinyl down this weekend. I painted my kitchen AQUA!

How is the paint holding up on the can? I'm worried that the paint will chip around the edge by the lid. Love the idea though (I ran out to buy a can right after I read your post!)
